Materials

1 A4 Sheet JS Elegance Satin 300gsm card.
3 A4 Sheets JS Elegance Satin 160gsm paper.
1 A4 Sheet 120gsm paper for insert.
2 brads
Approx 15cms fine string or raffia.
Sticky Stuff – I used foam pads, Pinflair Glue Gel, double sided tape and red liner tape.
JS Jane Shasky from the heart of the garden CD set
. I used an image from the Herb Garden section on CD1.

Step One

Using 160gsm Elegance Satin paper, print out the Herb Decoupage Sheet, the matching backing paper, and matching sentiment.

If you wish to personalise the sentiment, it explains how to on the CD. It also explains how to copy and import an individual sentiment or topper into a word processing or graphics programme.

Step Two

Using a sheet of 300gsm Elegance Satin Card, in landscape orientation, mark, cut and score as shown. Do not fold the score lines.

Step Three

Cut a piece of backing paper 14.9cms x 21cms and stick double sided tape to the reverse as shown.

Step Four

Apply a piece of double sided tape to the horizontal score line (shown in blue).

Step Five

Remove the double sided tape on both the card and the backing paper and attach the backing paper to the front of the card.

Optional - Cut a fancy edge along the bottom of the card. I used a Nestabilities Die.

Score and valley fold the flap at the bottom of the card.

Step Six

Cut out the topper from the decoupage sheet and mount onto a piece of backing card. I coloured the edge of a piece of Elegance Satin card using a Promarker Olive Green pen. The mounted topper should measure 12.5cms x 13cms and the bottom edge of the topper should be placed flush with the bottom edge of the backing card.

Step Seven

Attach the topper to the front of the card, with the bottom edge of the topper butting up to the score line. The topper should be placed centrally from each side of the card.

To create the rectangular up stand for the pop-up, cut a strip of the backing paper or thin card 4cms x 11.5cms and score horizontally at 1cms intervals. Apply red liner double sided tape to sections “A” and “D” as shown.

Turn the strip face down and peel away the backing strip from “A”, butt up to the horizontal score line, centre and fix.

Fold the section “D” upwards as shown.

Step Eight

With the front of the card and flap flat on the table, remove the backing strip from section “D” and fix to the bottom of the topper.

Before sticking, check that when the card is upright and the flap forms the base, that the up stand has formed a rectangular tube.

Apply red liner tape to the front of the up stand “B”.

Step Nine

Cut out the remaining decoupage. Attach the largest section to a piece of card and trim to match. Attach to the front of the up stand “B” lining up with the topper.

Complete the decoupage, and a length of string to the plant pot. I also attached two small brads to the “Herb” sign.

Attach a sentiment to the flap.

Optional - Attach a “Herb” sign to the underside of the flap.

Mountain fold the left side of the card.

Step Ten

Although the CD does not include an insert specifically for this size of the card, the A4 landscape folded in half to create an A5 portrait insert, is easily adapted to fit, by trimming away the top and bottom of the insert.

The flap folds upwards for posting and the card will fit in a 16.5cms square envelope.
